In a world increasingly conscious of health and sustainability, the demand for the best natural makeup is at an all-time high. Creating a natural-looking makeup look not only enhances and feels effortless, but also ensures you're using products that are kind to your skin and the environment. Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieving a flawless, natural makeup look using my favorite all-natural products that utilize the best quality ingredients.

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

Well-prepped skin is essential for any great makeup look. Start with a clean, moisturized face. Use a gentle, all-natural cleanser to remove any impurities.  The key is to find a cleaner that does no harm to the skin, so nothing abrasive.  In terms of serums, at a minimum I like to use a hyaluronic acid serum.  This ingredient replenishes the skin and repairs any moisture barrier damage so that makeup can lay smooth and flat on the skin’s surface.  Follow this step with an all-natural moisturizer to flood the skin with hydration before adding any color to the face.  In the colder months, I also love to press a few drops of face oil into the skin to seal it all in.

    • Cleanser: One Love Organic B Enzyme Cleansing Oil
    • Hyaluronic Acid Serum: Osea Hyaluronic Sea Serum
    • Moisturizer: Alpyn Beauty PlantGenius Melt Moisturizer
    • Face Oil: Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil

Step 2: Prime for Perfection

Priming your skin creates a smooth canvas for your makeup and helps it last much longer. Opt for a natural primer that suits your skin type.  You can also find primers with added benefits to add radiance to the skin, or to mattify.

  • Recommended Product: Exa Jump Start Smoothing Primer

Step 3: Even Out Your Complexion

Choose a tinted moisturizer with SPF that matches your skin tone. I like to use a tint in place of a foundation as the tint will give you a much lighter, more natural look than an occlusive foundation.  You can then add concealer where you need it for more coverage.

I like to apply a tinted moisturizer with clean hands as tinted moisturizers with SPF tend to be a bit sticky.  Warming it in your hands is a good trick for making it blend smoothly into your skin.

  • Recommended Product: Ilia Beauty Skin Tint Super Serum

Step 4: Conceal and Correct

Use a natural concealer to cover any blemishes, dark circles, or redness. I like to start with the smallest amount of concealer and blot it out on the skin with a wet beauty sponge.  This diffuses the color seamlessly across the skin while giving you control of how sheered out you want it to be.

  • Recommended Product: Ilia Beauty True Skin Serum Concealer

Step 5: Set It Lightly

Set your foundation and concealer with a light dusting of natural loose translucent powder to prevent shine and extend wear.

  • Recommended Product: Ilia Soft Focus FInishing Powder

Step 6: Contour

Skip this step and move onto step 7 if you aren’t a contour fan like me.  I LOVE a light, well-placed contour to define the natural cheekbone which looks both natural and polished.

  • Recommended Product: Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting Powder (go two to three shades deeper shade than your skintone)

Step 7: Define Your Brows

Well-groomed brows frame your face. Use a natural brow pencil or powder to fill in sparse areas and define your brows. Keep the look soft and natural by following the natural shape of your brows.

  • Recommended Product: EcoBrow Defining Wax

Step 8: Enhance Your Eyes

For a natural everyday eye look, I use a smudgy kajal pencil in brown and focus on the lower lashline.  I’ll draw a line on the outer third of the lower lash line and blend it out into a soft wing.  You can then pull this smudge into the outer corner of the top lash line.  This trick gives you definition without looking like too much on the eye.  Finish with a coat of black mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

  • Recommended Products:
    • Kajal Eyeliner: Victoria Beckham Kajal Liner in Cocoa
    • Mascara: Ere Perez Natural Almond Mascara

Step 9: Add a Natural Flush

A touch of blush on the apples of your cheeks adds a healthy, natural flush. Opt for a cream for a dewy finish.  I like to use a HIGHR Lipstick for this step!

Step 10: Perfect Your Pout

Finish your natural look with a lip color that enhances your natural lip shade. Choose a natural lipstick or glossing oil in a shade close to your natural lip color.

Final Touches

Set your makeup with a natural setting spray to lock everything in place and give your skin a healthy, dewy finish.

  • Recommended Product: Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist

Conclusion

There may be ten steps but the resulting look is effortless and only takes five minutes tops!  What’s more is that all-natural products are not only efficacious and beautiful but they are more bioavailable to the skin, meaning that your skin recognizes their ingredients and benefits from them.  A win win!
